Whew. After how many months of blog hiatus, I’m finally able to sit down and blog about my travels once again. I have quite a number of travelogues in store for you (seven months’ worth!), but for now allow me to start off by telling you great news: SEAIR is once again having a winter promo for my favorite Philippine province, Batanes!

Book anytime from December 1 to 25, 2009 and get a 10% discount on flights to Batanes! Travel period is from December 1, 2009 to January 31, 2009. To avail of this promo, simply type in “ilovebataneswinter09” in the promo code field upon booking.
Batanes is probably the only (I think it is the only) province in the Philippines that experiences winter being in such close proximity to Taiwan. Though there’s no snow, temperature can go as low as 7°C in the winter months, December and January. Found in this picturesque province are stone houses that withstand even the strongest of typhoons, lighthouses giving the best views of the rolling hills and beaches, and the most hospitable people you will meet.
The remoteness of Batanes helps maintain its beauty and preserve its people’s culture, making it a truly remarkable place as compared to other popular destinations in the Philippines. Nature is untouched, animals are protected, and this is probably the only place in the Philippines where you can leave things lying around without worrying about them getting stolen.
I’ve visited Batanes sometime last year. So far, it’s still the best Philippine province I’ve ever been to — and that’s not an exaggeration. See for yourself… Book now, as there are limited promo seats available! :)

i love to go to batanes. does anyone know the best way to travel there from cebu? i can’t find any direct flights cebu to batanes.
@Chris:
As far as I know, there’s no direct flights from Cebu to Batanes at the moment. You have to pass by Manila as your jump off. Or if you want to see more of Northern Luzon (I’m from Northern Luzon), make the most of your time if you have the budget. Fly Cebu to Manila and make a one way flight to Basco,Batanes from Manila.
Here you have two options on your way back to Manila:
Option 1: Take a one way return from Basco, Batanes to Laoag City (Ilocos Norte). There are famous places to see in Laoag which can be reached by jeepneys. After your itinerary in Laoag City, move south by minibuses going to famous pre-colonial houses in Vigan City (Ilocos Sur). In Vigan, there are buses plying to Manila most of the time. Option 2: Taking the Cagayan Valley corridor by plane from Basco, Batanes to Tuguegarao City (Cagayan). In Tuguegarao, make a side trip to the famous Callao Caves in Penablanca, Cagayan which just about 30mins south of Tuguegarao. Take the bus in Tuguegarao going to Manila or if you are very adventurous and have the time still, visit Banawe Rice Terraces.
How does that sounds?
Batanes looks beautiful.Thank you for this
eveybody’s dream destination….
