Before the Caticlan airport opened, going to Boracay took a long time. Upon touchdown to Kalibo, one must take land transportation going to the Caticlan jetty port—which was usually more than an hour away. But smaller planes landing on Caticlan now makes it possible to get to Boracay sooner—15 to 20 minutes tops.
From the Caticlan airport, the jetty port is just less than 5 minutes away. Hotels and some guesthouses provide “airport transfers” which include the boat ride going to Boracay for a fee, though South East Asian Airlines (SEAIR) provide their passengers complimentary shuttle ride from the airport to the jetty port and a boat ride to Boracay Island.
Currently, SEAIR is having an anniversary promo, slashing off Php1,400 on airfare per way, that you might want to check out.
It takes about 10-15 minutes to get to Boracay via an out-trigger boat on a calm morning. It would probably take a bit longer if it’s windy, but either way, it’s still a short boat ride.
Once on the Boracay port, you can either take a multi-cab or a tricycle going to your hotel. Other hotels provide this already, but some don’t. I can’t remember exactly how much the tricycle fare costs, I think somewhere around Php50—definitely less than $2.
Getting back to the airport isn’t a problem either. You just go the same way back by hailing a tricycle from the D’Mall main entrance (tricycles are parked there, I even saw a number of them when I took a morning walk at the crack of dawn).
See? It’s so easy to get to Boracay. Even if it’s your first time there, it’s highly unlikely you’ll have any problems getting to the resort island. Afraid of getting lost within Boracay? Just stick to White Beach, you’ll be fine. If you want to do something more than the usual “beach stuff,” just ask a tricycle driver or any of the locals and you’ll get there. Boracay isn’t that big an island anyway, hardly a place to get lost in—unless, of course, you go off your own in places that even the locals hardly go to.
